We had a minor dribble in our fancy kitchen faucet
The leak was in the sprayer hose and fastened by a screw
It saddens me to tell you that we’ve no choice now but toss it
I tried everything I could but there was little I could do

This lovely kitchen faucet still so young, its whole life ahead of it
Needlessly sent to the dump prematurely, on top of a pile unsightly
And for what? What possible justification could honestly ever be said of it?
Some over zealous parts assembler screwed the screw too tightly?

I bought a brand new barbecue to grill whilst sipping a cold one
It had an electric motor that augured wood pellets in fire to burn
The motor stopped working, I bought a replacement and just had to swap out the old one
But I couldn’t remove the old motor, on there so tightly the screws wouldn’t turn

This barbecue was an engineering marvel and now its just junk
It was expensive too, I might have a case if I ever decided to sue them
And now its sitting in a landfill, another rusting metal hunk
All because the screws were on so tight you couldn’t unscrew them

My 16 year old buddy Brian suicide committed
His father was a doctor and he broke into his office one night
took a handful of barbiturates and to the afterlife submitted
He and his teenager sweetheart had just broken up after a fight

Brian was funny and witty and smart, his friends were all crushed and they still are
Needlessly sent to his grave prematurely, now under a headstone unsightly
He’s rotting away in a graveyard just like my kitchen faucet and grill are
And all because his screws had been screwed on a bit too tightly
