From the recording The Wobbly Wheel

Lyrics

I pulled the cart out from the stack
And could tell right away it was hobbled
I should have just put the cart back
The front wheel violently wobbled

But I was, of course, running late
And I thought, with the cart, I could deal
And thus, I had sealed my fate
I chose a cart with a wobbly wheel

My guests would soon be at my door
The pressure upon me was mounting
My boss and his wife and the man HE works for
And the beautiful girl from accounting

But my cart wheel’s clickety clacking
My shopping trip now an ordeal
It’s too late now, there’s no backtracking
Wehn you’ve chosen a wobbly wheel.

Wobbly Wheel

The wobbly wheel made me tardy
And my guests went home hungry and tired
My boss was displeased about the missed dinner party
And I was shortly thereafter that fired

I never recovered from losing
My job, it was less than ideal
God punished me greatly for choosing
The cart with the wobbly wheel

Wobbly Wheel

I stole the cart off of the stack
I needed a place for my clothes
I lived under a bridge near a railroad track
Since the bank on my house did foreclose

And now a homeless man wanders the city
From dumpsters he picks his next meal
But this man doesn’t warrant your pity
He chose the cart with the wobbly wheel
